Cats love to watch squirrels and chipmunks but often don’t get the opportunity and the same goes for you. Sitting in an office cuts you off from the outside world but you can still watch birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. Over the lockdown, we started a bird feeding station and I decided to start recording the bird feeder area and see animals visit.
This turned into one day deciding to build a dedicated area that served as a stage for recording birds, squirrels, and chipmunks visiting the bird feeding area. I set up my cameras and waited. Okay, I might have been standing at the window impatiently awaiting my first guests.
The bird feeding area now gets a lot of regulars like squirrels and chipmunks as well as a variety of birds. Check it out for yourself:
I found a seed blend that is shelled seeds which makes bird feeding so much easier as there is no mess from the shells. I don’t have to worry about cleaning up the area, or sunflower and peanut shells being tracked into the house. I use the ground and flat stones to feed the seeds. I also have two hopper-style bird feeders above the area to attract birds.
When I would rearrange the feeding area, it used to take at least two days before I would get the squirrels and chipmunks to come back. Now they sit and wait for me to be done rearranging their dining room. lol.
Bird feeding and bird watching are great ways to reduce stress, but if you don’t have the space for it or if you are stuck in an office and need some nature then tune into @zencattv.
